SM Mall Cebu City -- May 13, 2011. Fifteen beautiful Cebuanas participated in the recently concluded Miss World Philippines 2011 Search for Candidates in the Queen City of the South, Cebu City. All 15 applicants did Cebuanos proud by presenting themselves in casual & formal gowns to the delight of the audience at the Event Center of SM Mall Cebu. The candidates prepared a choreographed song number to the tune of 'I am woman.' and some of them shared their talents in dancing and singing. The applicants will be informed on or before July 15, 2011 whether they will be invited to Manila for the final screening sometime early August.

Cory Quirino, chairman and CEO of CQ Global Quest Inc. (CQGQ) and national director-licensee of Miss World Philippines (MWP) announced that the provincial search for aspiring candidates to MWP is in full swing having kicked off in Naga City in early May. The search yielded sevral young first-time beauty pageant applicants. The second stop was Cebu City, Where at SM Supermall a mini beauty pageant attracted hundreds of mallgoers.
Future seaches include a Metro Manila-wide gathering on May 27, at SM Mall of Asia, before continuiing on May 28 at SM City Pampanga in San Fernando and on June 18 at SM City Davao. Other provincial cities are still being considered and will be announced shortly.
MWP is presented by CQGQ and SMDC, together with Banco de Oro, Petron, Smart, Philippine Airlines, and The City of Puerto Princesa, with SM Supermalls as official search partner.

In January in a press conference, Julia Morley, chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization, made a final presentation of the Miss World license to Quirino in the presence of Miss World 2010 Alexandria Mills and 2nd Princess Emma Wareus. Upom receiving the license, Quirino made her first official dramatic move by offering the biggest prize money in the history of the Philippine pageant industry by having a grand prize of P1 million, plus an SMDC Condo unit.
The Miss World Philippines Slogan is "Beauty in Giving." inspired by the famous Miss World Slogan "Beauty with a Purpose." Taking this corporate social respinsibility to heart, the Philippine pegeant has adopted the Tuloy Streetchildren Foundation, headed by Fr. Rock Evangelista; and Philippine General Medical Foundation, led by Dr. Greg Alvior, as beneficiaries.
The deadline for submission of application form is on July 31. The coronation and pageant night is set for September 18 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
